Engineering Technician

Responsibilities

• Prepare staking sheets for minor overhead and underground projects
• Process municipal, county, and FDOT permits and right-of-way easements
• Utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) to ensure projects are entered accurately and timely
• Coordinate with members, builders, and developers regarding new service requirements
• Receive, stake, and process job orders while maintaining up-to-date engineering records
• Prepare cost estimates and reports related to construction and maintenance activities
• Maintain safe work habits in accordance with the Cooperative Safety Manual

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two years of experience as a Clay Electric Engineering Aide (or equivalent utility experience)
• Completion of at least two of the three Hi-Line Comprehensive Staking Technician phases
• Valid State of Florida driver’s license
• Ability to use a laptop and understand circuit diagrams, mapping, and customer information systems
• Comprehensive knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code and National Electric Code

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology from an ETAC/ABET accredited program
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using iPads or other mobile electronic devices in the field
