Engineering Team Lead, AI Platform

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a team of platform engineers, setting technical direction and mentoring engineers
• Define the application-layer foundation for AI, including core integration patterns and agent architecture
• Own the integration architecture strategy for connecting products to AI services and third-party systems
• Design and maintain the third-party integration layer for scalable and reliable connections
• Build data pipelines for AI features, including structured data feeds, embeddings, and retrieval infrastructure
• Ensure platform reliability, performance, and developer experience
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to shape the AI roadmap
• Establish standards and best practices for AI development, including SDK design and observability
• Evaluate emerging models, frameworks, and tooling for pragmatic adoption

Requirements

• 7+ years of software development experience
• 3+ years in a technical leadership role
• Hands-on experience building production AI systems (agents, integrations, or AI-powered features)
• Deep familiarity with LLM APIs and agent frameworks (e.g., Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, LangChain)
• Experience building evaluation pipelines and quality benchmarks for LLM systems
• Strong background in integration architecture and designing extensible connectors
• Experience building data pipelines involving RAG, embeddings, and vector search
• Backend engineering depth with a track record of building scalable systems
• Experience at an early-stage or high-growth company
• Strong communication skills to articulate technical tradeoffs

Preferred Qualifications

• Fullstack experience
• Experience with PHP/Laravel
