Engineering/Science Postdoctoral Fellow

Responsibilities

• Design and execute experimental investigations into process-structure-property relationships for advanced engineering materials
• Operate cold spray additive manufacturing systems and contribute to powder bed fusion and directed energy deposition programs
• Develop physics-based computational models using finite element analysis to complement experimental findings
• Apply CAD tools such as ANSYS and SolidWorks to produce geometric models for experimental specimens
• Lead technical writing for sponsored program reports and contribute to multiple peer-reviewed publications annually
• Mentor and train undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory settings
• Develop curriculum and deliver hands-on training as part of Department of Defense workforce development programs

Requirements

• Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, materials science, physics, or a closely related discipline
• Demonstrated expertise in the characterization and testing of crystalline materials, including metals and ceramics
• Strong background in additive manufacturing processes and the mechanics of materials
• Proficiency in data analysis and automation using software platforms such as Matlab and Python
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with data-driven engineering methods, particularly those leveraging artificial intelligence or machine learning
