Engineering Outreach Intern

Responsibilities

• Support K-12 outreach efforts in collaboration with the Director of Engineering Outreach
• Manage student outreach teams and schedule visits with community partners in the Greater Pittsburgh area
• Assist in the development and implementation of engineering curriculum, including module testing and material acquisition
• Build and maintain trust-based relationships with historically marginalized communities
• Establish connections with engineering students interested in participating in outreach programming
• Provide guidance, skill development, and programming support to K-12 students

Requirements

• Proven experience working with K-12 populations
• Experience in a STEM-related field
• Knowledge and experience developing or implementing outreach programming
• Proficiency with G Suite applications
• Strong time management, organization, and project prioritization skills
• Ability to obtain Act 33, Act 34, and Act 151 clearances
• Ability to travel to off-site locations within Pittsburgh and work some evening/weekend hours

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on college campuses in academic or K-12 student services environments
• Collaborative professional with experience in diverse community engagement
