About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead software development technical direction, execution, and code quality for one or more teams
- Bridge the gap between business/product needs and technical execution via OKRs and resource planning
- Ensure software development roadmap items are delivered on-time with exceptional quality
- Serve as a force multiplier by removing roadblocks and implementing process improvements
- Extend influence across distributed engineering teams through mentorship and training
- Maintain robust engineering diagrams and engage with engineers at a code and design level
- Establish a culture of psychological safety, candor, and cooperation
- Apply Agile and Lean principles to improve team efficiency
Requirements
- B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years in software development roles
- 2+ years in an engineering leadership role with direct management responsibilities
- 3+ years hands-on coding in a large-scale distributed microservices architecture
- Experience conducting annual employee reviews
- Proficiency with Java and Spring Framework (including Spring Boot)
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
- Ability to work on-site in Seattle 5 days a week
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Javascript and React, Angular, or Vue
- Experience with containerization technologies like Kubernetes and Docker
- Experience building for cloud-scale delivery (scalability, resiliency, and recoverability)
- Experience delivering large technical initiatives from scoping to launch
- Enthusiastic about using AI tools like GitHub Copilot or Claude for productivity
- Experience in identity management
