Engineering Manager, Services

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product, Design, Data, and Operations to identify and solve high-value problems
• Guide architecture and engineering decisions for backend services, APIs, and distributed systems
• Build and lead a high-agency engineering team by providing context and clear decision boundaries
• Raise execution standards by reducing ceremony and using data to drive improvements
• Hire, coach, and develop exceptional engineers across all experience levels
• Build strong cross-functional relationships and influence through technical judgment and results

Requirements

• Experience building and operating customer-facing software or platforms
• Experience managing high-performing engineering teams
• Strong technical judgment in backend services, APIs, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure
• Proficiency with Python, Go, Ruby, or comparable backend technologies
• Proven ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear technical direction
• Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS and production operations
• Experience with service migrations, reliability, security, and performance optimization
• A founder-minded approach to problem-solving and resourcefulness
