Engineering Manager, Sensitive Deployments

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of senior engineers responsible for complex, high-impact deployments of OpenAI technology in sensitive environments.
• Own end-to-end delivery outcomes across prototype, pilot, production launch, and ongoing operation.
• Partner directly with senior customer stakeholders and technical teams to scope work and remove blockers.
• Set and maintain a high bar for architecture, code quality, testing, observability, reliability, security, and operational readiness.
• Translate field learnings into reusable tools, playbooks, reference architectures, and product requirements.
• Serve as a technical escalation point for deployments involving high ambiguity or mission sensitivity.
• Coach engineers on technical judgment, customer communication, and prioritization.

Requirements

• 10+ years of engineering or technical delivery experience.
• 4+ years of experience managing high-performing engineering teams.
• Proven experience working with government, defense, intelligence, or similarly regulated/sensitive customers.
• Strong technical depth in full-stack software, cloud infrastructure, APIs, data systems, and security.
• Proficiency in writing production-grade code in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages.
• Deep understanding of deployment models involving Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and compliance requirements.
• Ability to simplify complex work and make sound decisions under pressure.
