Engineering Manager, Safeguards Interventions

Responsibilities

• Hands-on lead and grow a team of engineers; own roadmap, OKRs, and execution
• Drive cross-functional work with ML Infra, Research, Product, Policy, and Legal
• Set the bar for intervention quality backed by measurement
• Represent safety and product tradeoffs to leadership and external stakeholders
• Own production reliability for intervention and compliance systems, including incident response and SLOs

Requirements

• Experience managing engineering teams shipping production ML or safety-enforcement systems
• Experience running high-stakes, compliance-adjacent production systems
• Proficiency with measurement and building evaluations (evals)
• Ability to drive ambiguous, multi-stakeholder tradeoffs (safety vs UX vs latency vs cost)
• Deep interest in AI safety

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in trust & safety, integrity, or abuse-prevention engineering at scale
• Experience with compliance-driven systems such as child safety or copyright
• Experience shipping systems across multiple cloud providers
