Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership through coding, code reviews, and architectural decision-making
• Drive the design and operation of highly scalable and resilient distributed systems
• Define and execute technical strategy and roadmaps for core platform services like API gateways and service mesh
• Champion engineering craftsmanship, standards, and developer productivity tools
• Attract, hire, and mentor top-tier engineering talent to grow them into senior and staff roles
• Lead technical collaborations across Product, Business, and Operations functions
• Oversee site reliability and operational excellence through observability and automation

Requirements

• 8–12 years of total experience in software engineering
• 4–6 years of experience building and operating distributed systems at scale
• 2–3 years of people management experience leading teams of 8–15 engineers
• Deep proficiency in Go, Python, or Java
• Proven experience with distributed systems challenges like cascading failures and cache stampedes
• Strong understanding of resilience engineering (circuit breakers, chaos engineering, SLOs)
• Experience with cloud-native technologies (AWS/GCP), Kubernetes, Kafka, Redis, and Prometheus/Grafana

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building with or using LLMs
• Contributions to open-source projects or personal GitHub projects
• Experience in a product-driven company environment
• Comprehensive understanding of backend ecosystems and web technologies
