Engineering Manager

About the Company

Nectar Social is building the AI-native social operating system that enables a new era of commerce. Founded by ex-Meta product and engineering leaders and backed by GV and True Ventures, we work with brands like Oura Health and e.l.f. Cosmetics to converge community, conversation, and commerce.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of engineers, providing regular feedback, career development, and mentorship
• Partner closely with product and design to define product direction and user problems
• Sit in customer calls regularly to build direct intuition for user needs
• Own planning and delivery for your team's product area, balancing speed, quality, and impact
• Drive technical quality, reliability, performance, and sound architecture decisions
• Contribute to product strategy by identifying patterns across customer feedback and usage data
• Establish and refine engineering processes including sprint planning and incident response
• Contribute to hiring by sourcing, interviewing, and closing strong engineering talent

Requirements

• Experience managing a team of software engineers
• Strong product instincts and focus on customer outcomes
• Technical background capable of engaging in architecture discussions and design reviews
• Experience working closely with product and design teams
• Bias toward action and comfort in fast-moving startup environments
• Clear, direct communication style
• Interest in how AI is changing product development and engineering workflows

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in B2B SaaS, social, commerce, or marketing technology
• Experience in a product engineering culture where EMs contribute to product direction
• Familiarity with React, TypeScript, AWS, Pulumi, Postgres, ClickHouse, or Turbopuffer
• Experience at an early-stage or rapidly scaling startup
• Experience building or managing teams that ship AI-powered product experiences
