Engineering Manager - ML, Self-Driving Systems

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction across multiple ML workstreams, including foundation models, shared backbones, and task heads for end-to-end driving.
• Lead rapid training and iteration cycles to ensure models ship into production vehicles on quarterly release cycles.
• Work directly with OEM customers to translate vehicle platform constraints into model architecture and delivery plans.
• Own offboard ML pipelines, including training infrastructure, data curation, autolabel quality, and evaluation systems.
• Manage the full model lifecycle from prototype to embedded deployment, including quantization and device-specific optimizations.
• Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing engineers while shaping team structure and technical standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in deep learning with hands-on experience in state-of-the-art ML development.
• 4+ years of experience managing deeply technical product development teams.
• Proven experience building ML training pipelines at scale, including data management and distributed training.
• Track record of deploying ML models to embedded or edge hardware using techniques like quantization and pruning.
• Proficiency in Python and C++ across the full stack from training code to onboard inference.
• Experience managing through complex architecture transitions, such as moving from modular to end-to-end systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with occupancy-based scene representations or sparse query-based architectures.
• Experience with closed-loop simulation for ML model evaluation (neural sim, log sim, or scenario-based testing).
• Background in data flywheel design, including automated ingestion and quality monitoring.
• Experience at an autonomous vehicle company that has successfully shipped autonomy to production.
