About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering activities to ensure optimum productivity and quality while complying with customer specifications
- Manage the overall development and administration of the Engineering Process
- Coach and develop engineering team members to foster professional growth
- Establish and review process controls, emphasizing continuous improvement and waste reduction
- Achieve product target costs and improve efficiency by identifying production problems
- Serve as a member of the plant leadership team, contributing to process flows, labor, and machine standards
- Review all proposed changes to processes, equipment, molds, and tooling for reliability and compatibility
- Support product launch strategies and maintain third-party registration to ISO/IATF standards
- Develop workflows, effective layouts, and optimized processes
- Authorize engineering change notices, process alerts, and department expenses
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred
- 5+ years of experience in the automotive industry
- Strong understanding of APQP processes (FMEA, Control Plan, etc.)
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and leading continuous improvement/Kaizen projects
- Proven ability to perform problem-solving and root cause analysis
- Demonstrated management and leadership skills with the ability to delegate and hold others accountable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
