Engineering Manager, Flights Meta

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers, providing technical guidance, performance feedback, and career development support.
• Own the team’s technical roadmap and align priorities with Flights product goals and Meta Search strategy.
• Drive backend architecture and engineering decisions, including APIs, service architecture, scalability, and maintainability.
• Partner closely with Product Managers, frontend engineering leadership, QA, and Design to deliver complex cross-functional work.
• Raise the bar on production readiness through improved testing, monitoring, logging, and performance validation.
• Support reliable operation of the Flights business by managing incident response and production tooling.
• Recruit, onboard, and grow backend engineering talent to support the long-term roadmap.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend or platform software development experience with strong knowledge of distributed systems.
• Proven experience managing or leading backend engineers, including coaching and performance management.
• Strong technical fundamentals in API design, software architecture, and modern engineering best practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across engineering, product, and design stakeholders.
• Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Ability to work from the Kaunas office at least 3 days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Java and modern backend frameworks in production environments.
• Experience leading teams in agile development environments (sprint planning, refinement, etc.).
• Experience working on search, booking, or other high-throughput systems.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
