Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a backend-focused squad, driving technical quality, delivery velocity, and team wellbeing
• Stay hands-on with the Ruby on Rails codebase through architecture decisions, code reviews, and feature development
• Own the technical architecture of your squad’s domain, designing scalable systems on a Rails monolith and microservices layer
• Partner with product managers to translate roadmap priorities into clear technical plans and realistic timelines
• Champion engineering best practices including testing, observability, security, and clean code
• Identify and introduce AI-augmented workflows, such as agentic tooling and LLM integrations, to accelerate delivery
• Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives and by unblocking your team

Requirements

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience
• 2+ years of experience in an engineering management or technical lead capacity
• Deeply hands-on expertise with Ruby on Rails
• Strong experience in system architecture design and evolving backend systems at scale
• Exposure to agentic AI or LLM tooling (via production, side projects, or experimentation)
• Strong asynchronous communication skills for collaborating across EU and India timezones

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with microservices, Kafka, or distributed systems in a high-volume SaaS environment
• Prior experience working in shipping, logistics, or eCommerce platforms
