Engineering Manager, Distillation & Detection Platform

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of software engineers building detection and mitigation systems for frontier model misuse, focusing on model IP protection and distillation detection.
• Set the technical roadmap and execution strategy, including prioritization, design, and impact measurement.
• Build and scale production systems, including services, pipelines, tooling, and automation.
• Partner with Research and Product teams to translate model capabilities into concrete tests and mitigations.
• Drive engineering excellence in architecture, reliability, monitoring, and performance.
• Hire and grow an exceptional team across backend, data systems, and applied ML engineering.

Requirements

• Significant experience leading engineering teams and delivering production systems end-to-end.
• Experience building systems in adversarial, fast-evolving environments (e.g., abuse prevention, fraud, or platform defense).
• Strong technical judgment in system design, distributed systems, and data pipelines.
• Ability to operate with ambiguity and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
• Familiarity with model extraction, distillation, or scalable detection/mitigation approaches.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in autonomy, high-scale real-time systems, or intelligence-adjacent technical domains.
• Experience with observability and operational reliability at massive scale.
