Engineering Manager, Developer Experience

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and mentor a team of engineers through weekly 1:1s and career conversations
• Own the roadmap and delivery for developer-facing infrastructure including APIs, webhooks, and data ingestion
• Partner with product, design, and customer-facing teams to shape technical strategy
• Drive technical standards for API design, event delivery guarantees, and integration patterns
• Track engineering health using DORA metrics and team-level KPIs
• Recruit, hire, and onboard strong engineering talent

Requirements

• 8+ years in engineering with at least 3 years in an engineering leadership role
• Strong background in developer experience, API platform engineering, or developer tooling
• Deep familiarity with API design and HTTP/event-based integration patterns (REST, webhooks, async messaging)
• Technical fluency in TypeScript and Node.js
• Experience leading sprint planning and cross-functional delivery
• Proven track record of building and shipping high-quality systems at scale
• Must be local to New York City and attend the office 3-4 days per week

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in high-growth product companies or startups
• Experience in fintech, financial services, or other regulated industries
