Engineering Manager

About the Company

Cardless is building a credit card and loyalty platform that consumer businesses use to engage their customers. They power programs for major names like Coinbase, Bilt, Qatar Airways, and Alibaba, aiming to become the global infrastructure for the next generation of credit card programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team working at the intersection of payments and financial infrastructure
• Own technical health, execution, and culture, from sprint planning to architectural direction
• Act as a hands-on technical partner in system design and complex technical decisions
• Partner with the Head of Engineering on hiring strategy, technical roadmap, and organizational planning
• Work with external partners, compliance, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable systems
• Champion the use of AI tooling to improve developer productivity and system design

Requirements

• Several years of engineering management experience, ideally leading backend teams
• Strong technical depth in system design and architecture
• Experience in fintech, payments, credit/debit card infrastructure, or money movement
• Proven track record of scaling both teams and systems
• Ability to navigate ambiguity alongside product, compliance, and operations teams
• High standards for code quality and communication
• Interest and experience in applying AI tools to software development
