Engineering Manager - Backend

Responsibilities

• Manage a group of highly skilled senior engineers through technical management, coaching, and guidance
• Participate actively in the design, development, delivery, and maintenance of software projects
• Oversee resource planning, execution, and the quality of software delivered by the group
• Lead the team in building sophisticated products using a cutting-edge technology stack
• Collaborate with Product Management and other engineering teams to drive business strategies
• Act as a point of contact for Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and manage production defects and stability
• Ensure operational efficiency and participate in organizational initiatives to maximize customer value
• Tailor processes to manage time-sensitive issues and ensure appropriate closure

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
• 8-10 years of professional experience
• 3+ years of experience in Java and frameworks like Spring or Spring Boot
• Proven experience in performance appraisal, hiring, and building teams from the ground up
• Experience working in a highly dynamic engineering environment such as a startup
• Deep understanding of Object-Oriented programming languages
• Strong knowledge of software engineering processes, design, and architecture
• Exposure to cloud service providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience delivering products with low/no-touch support and knowledge of SRE principles
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
