Engineering Maintenance and Technical Support Technician (EMTS)

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair test cell facility equipment, including DC battery cyclers, thermal chambers, chillers, load banks, and high-voltage monitoring systems
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems
• Fabricate and wire specialty equipment using existing or purchased parts and drawings
• Develop and write standard work for maintenance tasks and repair procedures, including Pre-Task Plans
• Collaborate with multi-disciplined teams to implement technical solutions and support new equipment launches
• Adhere to all corporate safety standards, including lockout/tagout and chemical management protocols
• Support root cause analysis and the development of new test configurations for battery technologies

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in an electrical-related field (e.g., machine controls, high voltage, or commercial electrical) or HVAC/R certifications
• 3-5+ years of hands-on electrical and/or mechanical experience
• Proficiency working with 480VAC and 1600VDC systems and understanding risk reduction techniques
• Ability to interpret complex electrical and mechanical drawings
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining refrigeration, environmental chambers, or HVAC-based thermal control systems
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience launching new equipment and processes
• Familiarity with GM purchasing processes and the Maximo System
• Experience with high voltage electrical systems and GM Workplace Safety Systems
• EPA 608 Certification for thermal chamber servicing
