Engineering Lead/Manager, Risk

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of real-time detection systems and fraud management products.
• Build and scale a high-performing engineering organization, including managing managers and senior individual contributors.
• Partner with Product, Design, Ops, and Strategy teams to shape the future of fraud management products.
• Serve as the accountable owner for architecture and system quality, ensuring reliability and scalability for real-time decisioning.
• Drive engineering excellence through design reviews, code quality standards, and automated checks.
• Own operational excellence, including incident response, observability, and capacity planning.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in back-end engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in engineering management, including ownership of complex distributed systems.
• Proven experience in Risk management or Fintech product engineering.
• Proficiency in Java, including multi-threading, high-concurrency patterns, and network programming.
• Deep experience with distributed systems and high-availability, high-throughput architectures.
• Proficiency with Spring / Spring Boot, HTTP, TCP/IP, REST, and build tools like Gradle or Maven.
• Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Leadership experience across multiple disciplines (Frontend, Data/ML, SRE).
• Working knowledge of machine learning in production and strong data analysis skills.
• Familiarity with modern data and storage technologies such as Cassandra, Redis, Kafka, or Flink.
• Polyglot engineering skills with experience in Kotlin, Scala, Python, or Golang.
• Cloud experience with AWS, GCP, or Alibaba Cloud.
• Background with risk-specific components like rule engines, feature stores, or real-time stream processing.
