Engineering Lead, Notification Platform

Responsibilities

• Manage, coach, and grow a team of engineers through regular feedback, performance management, and career development.
• Build a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Design, develop, and maintain a resilient, high-throughput, low-latency Notification Platform to deliver SMS, Email, and Push messages globally.
• Maintain high architectural standards through an Event Driven Architecture requiring high scalability, traceability, and automation.
• Identify new opportunities to expand communication channels, such as WhatsApp and inbox notifications.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Design teams across global offices to drive business transformation.
• Troubleshoot production issues across different levels of the stack.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in modern engineering practices focused on large-scale, low-latency, and high-throughput systems.
• 1+ years of experience in a people leadership role managing engineers directly.
• 3+ years of experience building distributed systems using middleware such as Kafka or PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience managing, maintaining, and tuning event pipelines.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go.
• Strong understanding of Java memory management, multi-threading, high concurrency, and IO/NIO.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with distributed databases or storage systems like Redis or NoSQL.
• Hands-on knowledge with full implementation of Kafka.
• Proficiency in messaging patterns and system resilience.
• Interest in design systems, search, AI technologies, gateway technologies, and data analytics.
• Proactive approach to automating tasks and reducing technical debt.
