Engineering Intern

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for software design, control solutions, and hardware drafting for industrial systems projects
• Create and document industrial controller software modules and animate Human Machine Interface (HMI) software
• Develop electrical drawings for circuits, power distribution, and control equipment using CAD software
• Produce mechanical panel layout drawings and maintain project documentation according to industry standards
• Conduct simulations to verify that software modules and HMI satisfy design and project requirements
• Assist in developing algorithms and transfer functions for the electro-mechanical operation of industrial machinery
• Support site commissioning activities by updating project drawings to reflect "As-Installed" configurations

Requirements

• High school diploma
• Currently enrolled in a BSEE, BSCPE, or BSME program (or related field)
• Completion of coursework in control automation, control system theory, or mechatronics
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Strong problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to travel domestically up to approximately 5%

Preferred Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Master's program (MSEE, MS Computer Engineering, or MSME)
• Research or thesis experience in robotics, software engineering, or electrical power systems
• Working knowledge of PLC programming or HMI programming languages
• Experience with Microsoft development tools (Visual Studio, SQL Server, .Net) or CAD software (AutoCAD, Visio)
• Previous experience as a research assistant, intern, or co-op in a related engineering field
