Engineer/APE/Project Engineer

Responsibilities

• Independently determine project scope, develop investigation plans, and define specifications including cost, time, and sample requirements.
• Communicate with clients to explain UL procedures, discuss technical issues, negotiate completion dates, and resolve concerns.
• Establish appropriate test programs by reviewing manufacturer information, examining samples, and applying UL requirements.
• Coordinate laboratory activities by preparing data sheets, scheduling work for technicians, and reviewing results.
• Notify clients of non-compliance with UL requirements or changes in project scope.
• Develop special test methods and equipment, and propose revisions to existing UL requirements.
• Perform or coordinate file reviews and may represent the company at industry seminars or trade shows.
• Provide technical assistance and training to laboratory, field, and entry-level engineering staff.

Requirements

• University Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an accredited program.
• Four years of directly related work experience.
• Detailed knowledge of technical vocabulary within the appropriate engineering discipline.
• Working knowledge of conformity standards used in your area of expertise.
• Demonstrated ability to apply project-handling concepts.
