Engineer - Protection & Control

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design, estimating, and analysis of electric transmission and substation protection systems
• Review and approve detailed protection system designs, including settings, developed internally or by consultants
• Develop technical specifications, standards, contracts, and purchase orders for protection and control equipment
• Direct engineering contractors and consultants performing system automation and integration roles
• Review large customer interconnections and distributed energy resource interconnections to substations and circuits
• Analyze distribution fault event operations and provide concise fault analysis reports to management
• Manage compliance programs applicable to substation assets and act as a subject matter expert during audits
• Travel to worksites on an as-needed basis to support engineering activities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology
• 4+ years of Engineering experience or 1 year of specialized experience in Protection & Control
• Advanced knowledge of power system protection applications and fundamentals of equipment protection
• Experience with ASPEN OneLiner and ASPEN Line Database
• Knowledge of FERC, NERC, NPCC, and IEEE-1547 standards
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and electrical design skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Engineering
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
• Proficiency in protection coordination analysis
