About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as Engineer-in-Charge in the Bridge Management Section
- Perform complex analysis of bridge load rating calculations
- Sign and seal Load Ratings documents
- Perform structural analysis for City-Owned Bridges to ensure safety against heavy vehicles
- Conduct field inspections of bridges to assess condition and obtain project scoping information
- Review budgetary plans for bridge rehabilitation projects
- Supervise subordinates in technical and administrative matters
Requirements
- Four years of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work
- Valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form
- Advanced knowledge of structural engineering and civil infrastructure concepts
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation
- Knowledge of NYSDOT Bridge Manual and NYSDOT Bridge Inspection Manual
- Proficiency in AASHTOWare Bridge Rating, STAAD Pro, or LARSA
