About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Engineer-in-Charge in the Bridge Management Section
  • Perform complex analysis of bridge load rating calculations
  • Sign and seal Load Ratings documents
  • Perform structural analysis for City-Owned Bridges to ensure safety against heavy vehicles
  • Conduct field inspections of bridges to assess condition and obtain project scoping information
  • Review budgetary plans for bridge rehabilitation projects
  • Supervise subordinates in technical and administrative matters

Requirements

  • Four years of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work
  • Valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form
  • Advanced knowledge of structural engineering and civil infrastructure concepts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation
  • Knowledge of NYSDOT Bridge Manual and NYSDOT Bridge Inspection Manual
  • Proficiency in AASHTOWare Bridge Rating, STAAD Pro, or LARSA
