About the role
Responsibilities
- Direct all functions during the construction phase of bridge reconstruction and rehabilitation projects
- Supervise engineering professional and clerical employees
- Oversee Resident Engineering teams and contractors to ensure compliance with contract documents
- Analyze complex civil engineering projects to determine requirements, uncertainties, and constraints
- Review consultant submissions including field change plans, specifications, and cost estimates
- Administer Resident Engineer and Construction Contracts, including invoice reviews and change orders
- Coordinate with external agencies such as NYSDOT, FHWA, and NYCDPR
- Utilize Contract & Project Management System (CPMS) for rate approvals and risk tracking
Requirements
- Four years of full-time experience in civil engineering work
- Valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License
- Experience as a major contributor or project leader on complex projects within the last three years
- A Master's degree in civil engineering may substitute for one year of required experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with bridge specifications and construction best practices
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar bridge projects and contract administration
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for project tracking
- Experience with procurement and bidding processes for large-scale infrastructure
- Proven track record in budget forecasting and project scheduling
