About the role

Responsibilities

  • Direct all functions during the construction phase of bridge reconstruction and rehabilitation projects
  • Supervise engineering professional and clerical employees
  • Oversee Resident Engineering teams and contractors to ensure compliance with contract documents
  • Analyze complex civil engineering projects to determine requirements, uncertainties, and constraints
  • Review consultant submissions including field change plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Administer Resident Engineer and Construction Contracts, including invoice reviews and change orders
  • Coordinate with external agencies such as NYSDOT, FHWA, and NYCDPR
  • Utilize Contract & Project Management System (CPMS) for rate approvals and risk tracking

Requirements

  • Four years of full-time experience in civil engineering work
  • Valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License
  • Experience as a major contributor or project leader on complex projects within the last three years
  • A Master's degree in civil engineering may substitute for one year of required experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with bridge specifications and construction best practices
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar bridge projects and contract administration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for project tracking
  • Experience with procurement and bidding processes for large-scale infrastructure
  • Proven track record in budget forecasting and project scheduling
