Engineer - Distribution Planning

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed engineering analyses to improve distribution system reliability and develop cost-efficient wire and non-wire alternative solutions.
• Solve moderately complex distribution planning and reliability problems, including large-scale system expansion and customer load additions.
• Develop and maintain planning methodologies, study models, and documentation such as feed loads, project scopes, and one-line diagrams.
• Utilize computer-aided analysis tools to identify system deficiencies and plan for system reinforcements.
• Review applications of distributed generation and perform system impact studies.
• Represent the Distribution Planning team on demonstration projects, initiatives, and industry teams.
• Guide and mentor junior engineers and review the work of subordinate engineers or consultants.
• Assist in storm restoration efforts as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
• 2 years of experience performing engineering duties.
• Completion of a Basic Engineering Training Curriculum (e.g., ECNE-PUI) or equivalent.
• Proficiency with system planning software such as CYME, GIS, SCADA, or PSSE.
• Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance environments (e.g., NERC, NPCC, ISO, PUC).
• Ability to document and interpret complex engineering documentation.
