Engineer - Distribution Planning

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed engineering analyses to improve distribution system reliability and identify system deficiencies
• Develop cost-efficient wire and non-wire alternative solutions for electric distribution capital projects
• Utilize computer-aided analysis tools to conduct system impact studies for distributed generation interconnection applications
• Prepare and maintain planning methodologies, study models, and documentation including feed load and one-line diagrams
• Represent the Distribution Planning team on demonstration projects, initiatives, and industry teams
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and consultants, reviewing their planning and reliability engineering work
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address standard and non-standard distribution planning situations
• Assist with storm restoration efforts as required

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
• 2 years of experience performing engineering duties
• Completion of a Basic Engineering Training Curriculum (e.g., ECNE-PUI) or equivalent
• Proficiency with system planning software such as CYME, GIS, SCADA, or PSSE
• Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance environments (e.g., NERC, NPCC, ISO, PUC)
• Ability to document and interpret complex engineering documentation
