About the role
Responsibilities
- Review and assess the technical maturity of A220 engines for design proposals and certification strategies.
- Identify technical risks and opportunities while evaluating trade-offs regarding environmental factors.
- Provide technical leadership and support to engineering development owners and integrators.
- Perform trade-off studies to assess new propulsion concepts.
- Act as a technical reference for external partners and other Airbus platforms.
- Manage risks within your area of responsibility and support cross-functional teams.
- Mentor teammates and contribute to the development of the engineering team regarding turbomachinery concepts and aircraft integration.
- Drive continuous improvement, simplification, and disruptive innovation within the domain.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related field.
- Over 20 years of relevant industry experience, specifically in turbomachinery core design.
- Deep expertise in turbofan design best practices, performance, validation, verification, and testing (rig and flight).
- Familiarity with engine externals, FADEC software, and controls.
- Knowledge of system installation qualification requirements (e.g., D0160, Vibration, Tubing) for aircraft accessories.
- Strong experience in risk management, probability analysis, and failure identification.
- Proficiency with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR) Airworthiness Manual (AWM) 525/533 certification processes.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with an engine OEM throughout the complete product life cycle.
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in engineering.
- Previous experience participating in aircraft investigations.
- Experience in vendor management.
