About the role

Responsibilities

  • Contact victims and witnesses to obtain supporting depositions
  • Outreach and inform victims of available services and make immediate referrals
  • Translate complaints and supporting depositions and complete Affidavit of Translation Forms
  • Assist victims with orders of protection and registration for inmate release notification
  • Document all outreach and case communication in EECU Workbench
  • Liaise with victims, Assistant District Attorneys, and law enforcement personnel
  • Represent the Unit at DANY sponsored community events
  • Explain the criminal justice system and ensure clients understand their rights

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • High fluency in Spanish and English (oral and written)
  • Ability to work one 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm late night shift weekly
  • High school graduation or equivalent with three years of community work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with crime victims
  • Familiarity with the criminal justice system
  • Social service degree
  • Training or experience in advocacy or customer service
  • ASL proficiency
