About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the implementation of the Coastal Roots program, including school communication, site coordination, and record maintenance
  • Develop and curate educational resources and trainings for stewardship portfolios such as Native Fish in the Classroom and marine debris projects
  • Plan and prepare for place-based learning initiatives including Ocean Commotion, Wetland Days, and citizen science projects
  • Supervise participating partners, including Sea Grant personnel, faculty, graduate students, and teachers
  • Develop educational content and lesson plans highlighting Sea Grant-supported research
  • Supervise 2-4 students providing support to the Education and Engagement program

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Marine Science, Education, Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Conservation, or Geography
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree and 2-8 years of experience in education or outreach activities
  • Previous work in formal or non-formal education settings
  • Knowledge of coastal Louisiana
