About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support multi-ethnic students in cultivating a sense of belonging through individual coaching and consultations
  • Conduct direct outreach to historically underrepresented multi-ethnic students
  • Develop and present programming focused on student retention, engagement, and belonging
  • Coordinate a student peer mentoring program
  • Supervise four undergraduate student engagement assistants
  • Collaborate with campus partners to support student success
  • Assist with organizing meetings for prospective students, families, and counselors

Requirements

  • Master's degree
  • One year of experience working with U.S. racially/ethnically underrepresented students
  • One year of experience in academic coaching, mentoring, teaching, or program development with high school or college students
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in student affairs, higher education, counseling, or a related academic field
  • Three years of experience working with U.S. racially/ethnically underrepresented students
  • Three years of experience in academic coaching, mentoring, or programming for college students
  • Demonstrated experience designing strategies for the retention and academic success of underrepresented students
  • Experience using active learning techniques and managing data
  • Experience with recruitment initiatives and public presentation
  • Knowledge of FERPA and experience managing confidential records
