About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage and support employment-related claims, including wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and PAGA matters
- Assist in responding to administrative agency charges (e.g., EEOC, DFEH/CRD, Labor Commissioner)
- Draft position statements, settlement agreements, and litigation documents
- Partner with HR and internal stakeholders on pre-litigation dispute resolution and risk mitigation
- Provide practical legal advice to HR and business teams on employee relations, practices, and policies
- Help develop and update employment-related policies, procedures, and training materials
- Coordinate with outside counsel on employment litigation, including managing deadlines, strategy, and budgets
- Support document preservation, litigation holds, and e-discovery processes
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- 5-7 years of litigation experience with a focus on employment law
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws (e.g., FLSA, Title VII, ADA, FEHA, wage and hour laws, PAGA)
- Experience handling employment claims, including agency charges and civil litigation
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting in-house legal teams or working with corporate clients
- Exposure to multi-state or international employment issues
- Experience in e-commerce, retail, or consumer-facing industries
- Experience with Google Business Suite
