About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide technology points of view (POVs) and strategic forecasts on emerging lower carbon, new energy, and disruptive technologies
- Gather intelligence on technology trends via subscription services and information search tools
- Engage with the external technology ecosystem, including universities, national labs, and industry thought leaders
- Advise internal innovation teams on emerging trends to align venture capital, commercialization, and strategic relationship efforts
- Support the Emerging Technologies R&D program through strategic direction, roadmapping, and project internalization
- Author thought pieces and contribute to internal innovation newsletters
- Work with Corporate Strategy to identify technologies with the potential to disrupt market forecasts
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in science or engineering
- Advanced degree in business, science, or engineering
- Broad understanding of the oil and gas industry and knowledge of the new energy space
- Experience with research and development (R&D) in academic or industrial settings
- Familiarity with techno-economic assessment, technology landscaping, and roadmapping
- Experience managing R&D projects and understanding technology transfer/commercialization
- Strong technical communication skills with the ability to translate technical solutions into business value
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in science or engineering
- 5+ years of experience within the Oil & Gas industry
- Demonstrated proficiency in technology forecasting and techno-economic assessment
- Proven ability to synthesize complex information from multiple sources for executive-level audiences
