Emergency Veterinarian

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat emergency and urgent care cases
• Stabilize and manage critically ill or injured patients
• Perform emergency procedures and surgeries as needed
• Interpret diagnostic tests including laboratory work, radiographs, and ultrasound findings
• Develop treatment plans and provide recommendations for ongoing care
• Communicate compassionately with pet owners regarding diagnoses and prognosis
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records
• Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and patient safety procedures

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution
• Active veterinary license in Michigan (or ability to obtain licensure)
• 2-3 years of clinical experience preferred
• Experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, or high-volume general practice
• Strong diagnostic, surgical, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure emergency situations
