About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and direct the university’s comprehensive emergency management and preparedness program.
- Develop, implement, and maintain institutional emergency management plans, including preparedness, response, and recovery strategies.
- Advise university leadership during emergencies and critical incidents to provide situational awareness and planning support.
- Direct the operational readiness of the university Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
- Coordinate with campus departments to develop and maintain business continuity plans.
- Design and conduct tabletop, functional, and full-scale exercises to evaluate response capabilities.
- Lead the development of after-action reports and implement corrective action plans following incidents or exercises.
- Oversee safety planning for major campus events, including the development of Incident Action Plans (IAPs).
- Collaborate with external emergency management agencies and public safety partners to strengthen campus resilience.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of experience in emergency management, law enforcement, or a related field.
- Completion of FEMA courses: ICS 100, 200, 363, 700, 800, and 907.
- Ability to obtain FEMA Professional Development Series, First Aid, and CPR/AED certification within 12 months of employment.
- Current Ohio Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis, including after-hours, evenings, and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Familiarity with law enforcement and emergency services.
- Proficiency in using emergency management software and technologies.
- Experience developing, implementing, and presenting professional training programs.
