About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide acute, urgent, and emergency medical care within an independently operated remote clinic environment
- Respond to medical emergencies and stabilize patients until evacuation or higher-level care is available
- Coordinate and manage medical evacuations, including communication and care coordination activities
- Support diagnostic and treatment services through telemedicine, teleradiology collaboration, and basic X-ray interpretation
- Maintain clinical oversight activities including medical documentation, infection control standards, and patient safety practices
- Supervise medical staff workflows and support coordinated healthcare delivery across the site
- Maintain clinic equipment, medications, and medical supplies
- Ensure accurate medical record documentation and regulatory compliance
Requirements
- Current unrestricted Physician Assistant license in a U.S. state, DC, or Puerto Rico
- Physician Assistant degree from an accredited institution
- Extensive emergency room experience
- NCCPA certification
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- DEA license
- Ability to respond to on-site medical emergencies within 30 minutes
- Ability to obtain and maintain required federal background screening (NACI/Tier 1 equivalent)
- U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident Card
- Willingness to work in a remote island-based healthcare environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in high-acuity remote, rural, military, or international healthcare environments
- Experience coordinating medical evacuations and remote healthcare logistics
- ATLS certification
- Experience with telemedicine, teleradiology, and independent X-ray interpretation
