About the role
Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency medical incidents throughout the campus.
- Provide emergency medical care consistent with certification levels and Alabama EMS protocols.
- Support athletic events, student activities, commencement ceremonies, and other special campus events.
- Coordinate response efforts with University Police, local law enforcement, fire departments, and hospitals.
- Participate in campus emergency preparedness planning, drills, exercises, and incident command activities.
- Complete accurate and timely patient care reports, incident reports, and required documentation.
- Maintain emergency medical equipment, medications, supplies, and overall response readiness.
- Serve as essential personnel during emergencies, weather events, and campus closures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current Alabama Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) License issued by the ADPH Office of EMS and Trauma.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Certification.
- Valid Alabama Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift, carry, and transport patients and medical equipment.
- Ability to maintain physical stamina for prolonged emergency operations and work in various environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) Certification.
- Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) Certification.
- FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) 100 and 200 Certifications.
- National Incident Management System (NIMS) 700 Certification.
- Stop the Bleed Certification.
- Experience in higher education, ambulance services, fire rescue, or public safety operations.
