Embedded Software Technical Lead & Manager, Simulation

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the team responsible for embedded HIL/SIL testing and simulation.
• Set the strategy for expanding test and simulation infrastructure to support new products and Waymo's scale.
• Develop internal graph-based simulation frameworks in C++ and improve realism through vehicle and environmental modeling.
• Combine logged data with model outputs in a loop to create highly representative simulations.
• Integrate SIL and HIL simulation with CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensure that test and simulation infrastructure remains highly available and reliable.

Requirements

• Technical leadership experience of software teams.
• Strong knowledge of modern C++.
• Proven experience designing, implementing, and maintaining production software systems.
• Advanced user-level proficiency with Linux.
• Familiarity with Electrical Engineering principles.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous people management experience.
• A strong passion for HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) simulation.
• Hands-on embedded programming experience.
• Experience using Linux for real-time applications.
• Knowledge of automotive and general-purpose network systems such as Ethernet and CAN.
• Familiarity with datacenter monitoring building blocks, including databases and dashboards.
