Embedded Software Engineer Technical Lead

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of embedded and firmware systems for robotics, autonomous, or maritime platforms
• Architect and implement firmware integrated with custom hardware, sensors, and control systems
• Write and review RTOS-based firmware including task design, synchronization, and memory management
• Debug complex system issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers
• Mentor and coach engineers on embedded firmware architecture and debugging techniques
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and systems teams to resolve technical bottlenecks

Requirements

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• 7+ years of experience in embedded/firmware development
• 3+ years in a senior or technical lead role
• Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems
• Proficiency in Python for tooling and testing
• Hands-on experience with RTOS environments (FreeRTOS, ROS2, Zephyr, or similar)
• Experience with embedded targets such as STM32, ARM-based MCUs/SoCs, x86, or PIC32
• Experience with I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet, and GPIO
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
• Must be a US person due to export-controlled technology

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with maritime systems, robotics, or uncrewed systems
• Exposure to navigation, localization, sensor fusion, or autonomy systems
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for embedded systems
• Experience with ISO 9001 or CMMI quality frameworks
• Background in machine learning or computer vision applied to robotics
