Embedded Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Adapt and integrate safety certifiable Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and drivers for robotic control hardware
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to design and optimize high performance safety-critical systems
• Develop and adapt device drivers for hardware peripherals such as GPIO, EtherCAT, and SPI
• Build tools to monitor, verify, and optimize real-time system performance
• Contribute to deterministic and reproducible build and test environments
• Collaborate with functional safety engineers to ensure compliance with safety standards
• Develop solutions for over-the-air (OTA) updates and software deployment

Requirements

• MS in computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline
• Experience with safety-certifiable RTOSes (e.g., PX5, ThreadX, SafeRTOS)
• Expertise in OS fundamentals, real-time scheduling, and memory management
• Strong understanding of ARM 64 hardware architecture
• Experience with multicore SoCs and interprocess/intercore communications
• Production experience with communication protocols like Ethernet, EtherCAT, or CAN
• Proficiency in low-level programming using C and assembly
• Understanding of bootloaders, HALs, and BSPs
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, hardware debuggers, and high-speed tracing
• Familiarity with functional safety (FuSa) concepts and MISRA compliance

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of ARM SIMD/NEON architecture extensions
• Proficiency in C++, Python, Rust, or Golang
• Experience with multi-language build systems like Bazel or Bob
• Familiarity with ROS 2 middleware (FastDDS, CycloneDDS, Zenoh)
• Experience with Docker and containerization tools
