Email Administrator

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain the University’s Microsoft 365 messaging environment, including Exchange Online, Entra ID, and hybrid Active Directory infrastructure.
• Manage user identity and access through Microsoft Entra ID and Entra Connect synchronization.
• Configure and maintain email security controls, including anti-spam, anti-phishing, anti-malware, Safe Links, and Safe Attachments.
• Serve as an active member of the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) to detect, analyze, and remediate email-borne security incidents.
• Perform threat hunting and forensic analysis of email headers, message traces, and audit logs.
• Administer email archiving, retention policies, eDiscovery, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP).
• Provide Tier 2 end-user support and troubleshoot complex technical issues across cloud and on-premises systems.
• Automate identity, mailbox, and compliance tasks using PowerShell scripting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
• 5–10 years of enterprise messaging system administration experience with Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online.
• In-depth knowledge of hybrid Active Directory environments and directory synchronization.
• Proficiency in PowerShell for administration and automation.
• Expertise in email authentication protocols including SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
• Experience investigating and responding to email-based security incidents such as phishing and business email compromise (BEC).

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft certifications such as MS-102, SC-300, or AZ-800/AZ-801.
• Experience with Microsoft Purview compliance solutions (eDiscovery, DLP, sensitivity labels).
• Familiarity with Conditional Access policies, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Zero Trust principles.
• Experience with Microsoft Intune for mobile device management.
• Knowledge of SIEM platforms and incident response frameworks like NIST SP 800-61.
