About the role

Responsibilities

  • Deliver differentiated, standards-based instruction in reading, writing, and math aligned to IEP goals
  • Provide structured small-group and individualized instruction for students with moderate disabilities, including autism and functional skill needs
  • Integrate life skills, executive functioning, and social-emotional learning into daily routines
  • Manage a student caseload, ensuring IEP goals, services, accommodations, and supports are implemented with fidelity
  • Use student data to adjust instruction, monitor progress, and inform IEP updates
  • Maintain accurate compliance records and participate in IEP meetings
  • Lead and coach paraprofessionals and 1:1 aides to ensure consistent instructional delivery
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and service providers
  • Build proactive relationships with families and communicate regularly about student progress

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Pennsylvania teaching certification in Special Education or actively working toward certification
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Ability to use student data to adjust instruction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in self-contained, autism support, or life skills classrooms
  • Experience working in urban school communities
  • Experience leading or directing paraprofessionals or support staff
