Electronics Technician

Responsibilities

• Install, test, and repair radio and fiber optic communication systems, including VHF and UHF radio control equipment
• Perform site preparation for voice switches and Fiber Optics Terminal System (FOTS) installations
• Troubleshoot electrical components using schematics, wiring diagrams, and test equipment like digital multi-meters and oscilloscopes
• Repair or replace components, wire bundles, terminal blocks, and connectors
• Solder and splice various wire types including coaxial, shielded, and stranded wires
• Install sensors, cabling, and radios in unpredictable, fast-paced environments and extreme weather conditions

Requirements

• High school diploma
• 1+ years of experience with Fiber Optics, Radio Control Systems (RCE), and complex electronics equipment
• Ability to travel 100% throughout the state of Alaska
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
• Ability to climb towers up to 50 feet
• Knowledge of Alaskan terrain
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and email

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced electronics training from a junior college, military service, or trade school
• Experience maintaining and repairing radar, telecommunication, or navigational aids
• Ability to apply technical knowledge to evaluate equipment performance and recommend circuitry changes
