About the role

Responsibilities

  • Rapidly design, develop, and test highly reliable electronics for animal wearables and infrastructure
  • Manage end-to-end electronic design including component selection, schematic design, PCB layout, and prototyping
  • Innovate to improve hardware performance and reliability while minimizing costs
  • Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, production, and farm teams
  • Design for manufacturing, testing, and EMC
  • Execute validation plans and perform root cause analysis on manufacturing and field returns

Requirements

  • Tertiary degree in Electronics Engineering or a similar relevant qualification
  • 3+ years of professional experience in an engineering organization
  • Proven experience delivering electrical hardware from concept through production
  • Experience with MCUs, SoCs, IMUs, GPS, WiFi, LoRa, I2C, SPI, and mixed-signal design
  • Expertise in ultra-low power IoT design, including solar power and DC-DC conversion
  • Proficiency with EE tools such as SPICE, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers
  • Ability to work onsite in Auckland and travel to China and Thailand as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience mentoring engineers or leading design reviews (for Senior/Lead roles)
  • Previous experience in a startup or scale-up environment
