About the role
Responsibilities
- Rapidly design, develop, and test highly reliable electronics for animal wearables and infrastructure
- Manage end-to-end electronic design including component selection, schematic design, PCB layout, and prototyping
- Innovate to improve hardware performance and reliability while minimizing costs
- Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, production, and farm teams
- Design for manufacturing, testing, and EMC
- Execute validation plans and perform root cause analysis on manufacturing and field returns
Requirements
- Tertiary degree in Electronics Engineering or a similar relevant qualification
- 3+ years of professional experience in an engineering organization
- Proven experience delivering electrical hardware from concept through production
- Experience with MCUs, SoCs, IMUs, GPS, WiFi, LoRa, I2C, SPI, and mixed-signal design
- Expertise in ultra-low power IoT design, including solar power and DC-DC conversion
- Proficiency with EE tools such as SPICE, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers
- Ability to work onsite in Auckland and travel to China and Thailand as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience mentoring engineers or leading design reviews (for Senior/Lead roles)
- Previous experience in a startup or scale-up environment
