Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electromechanical systems and precision mechanisms for spacecraft assembly and on-orbit operations
  • Create integrated designs combining mechanical structures with motors, actuators, sensors, and embedded control electronics
  • Perform stress and thermal analysis to optimize system performance and mass efficiency for space environments
  • Conduct testing and validation of electromechanical systems under simulated space conditions
  • Develop control strategies and feedback loops to regulate system behavior
  • Build prototypes and fabricate assemblies using computer-aided manufacturing and precision machining
  • Troubleshoot systems and diagnose mechanical and electrical failures
  • Ensure designs meet safety regulations and space environment constraints including thermal, vacuum, and radiation requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electromechanical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in electromechanical systems engineering
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as NX or SolidWorks
  • Strong understanding of sensors, actuators, motors, and motor controllers
  • Experience with motion control systems and precision mechanisms
  • Knowledge of control system design and feedback loops
  • Understanding of space environment constraints (thermal, structural, electrical)
  • Proficiency with circuit design, wiring schematics, and electrical-mechanical interface specifications
  • U.S. citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related technical field
  • Experience with spacecraft mechanisms, deployable structures, or precision positioning systems
  • Familiarity with space qualification testing standards (e.g., MIL-STD, ECSS)
  • Experience with electromechanical systems in vacuum or thermal environments
