Responsibilities
- Design and develop electromechanical systems and precision mechanisms for spacecraft assembly and on-orbit operations
- Create integrated designs combining mechanical structures with motors, actuators, sensors, and embedded control electronics
- Perform stress and thermal analysis to optimize system performance and mass efficiency for space environments
- Conduct testing and validation of electromechanical systems under simulated space conditions
- Develop control strategies and feedback loops to regulate system behavior
- Build prototypes and fabricate assemblies using computer-aided manufacturing and precision machining
- Troubleshoot systems and diagnose mechanical and electrical failures
- Ensure designs meet safety regulations and space environment constraints including thermal, vacuum, and radiation requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electromechanical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in electromechanical systems engineering
- Proficiency in CAD software such as NX or SolidWorks
- Strong understanding of sensors, actuators, motors, and motor controllers
- Experience with motion control systems and precision mechanisms
- Knowledge of control system design and feedback loops
- Understanding of space environment constraints (thermal, structural, electrical)
- Proficiency with circuit design, wiring schematics, and electrical-mechanical interface specifications
- U.S. citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related technical field
- Experience with spacecraft mechanisms, deployable structures, or precision positioning systems
- Familiarity with space qualification testing standards (e.g., MIL-STD, ECSS)
- Experience with electromechanical systems in vacuum or thermal environments
