About the role
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, modify, maintain, and repair electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment up to 480 volts.
- Maintain electrical panels, conduit, motors, appliances, transformers, and fire/emergency alarm systems.
- Provide work direction, training, and orientation to other electricians and tradespeople.
- Review electrical project scopes, estimate materials, labor hours, and staffing needs.
- Perform periodic inspections of installed systems to ensure safe and serviceable conditions.
- Coordinate with other trades to complete multi-trade maintenance projects.
- Assist with general facility maintenance including minor repairs to plumbing, roofing, or HVAC systems as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Either two years of advanced vocational electrician education plus two years of full-time experience, OR five years of full-time experience as a skilled commercial electrician.
- A current and valid State of Ohio electrical license (mandatory).
- Strong knowledge of the National Electric Code and Ohio Building Code.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using technology such as iPads for reporting and accessing schematics.
- Previous experience in a university or large institutional facilities setting.
