Electrician

Responsibilities

• Maintain, test, and repair all types of electrical installations and equipment within the Medical Center complex
• Replace wiring, conduit, switches, receptacles, and electro/mechanical equipment
• Install low voltage wiring, cabling, and new local services for lighting and appliances
• Work from blueprints and schematics to determine the location and layout of circuits, conduits, and wiring
• Manage high and low tension systems, metering, relaying, and motor repairs
• Inspect equipment in the Operational Section and assess maintenance needs
• Remove abandoned electrical systems and keep work areas neat, clean, and safe
• Communicate with patients, visitors, and hospital employees with tact and courtesy

Requirements

• High School diploma
• Five years of experience at the journeyman or senior level
• Successful completion of an electrical apprentice program
• Valid Class “B” electrician's card
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes and safety rules
• NICET qualification for the maintenance and installation of fire alarm systems
• Ability to work from ladders and scaffolds
• Ability to perform strenuous physical activity and handle routine contacts with efficiency
