About the role
Responsibilities
- Maintain electrical systems for running vessels and oversee overhauling and repowering processes
- Install electrical systems onboard vessels in accordance with Subchapter M regulations
- Calibrate, test, inspect, and troubleshoot electronic devices including PLCs, transmitters, and controllers
- Assist in the design, engineering, and procurement of electrical equipment and instrumentation systems
- Develop procedures and documentation for USCG approval for equipment upgrades
- Support Chief Engineers with hands-on maintenance and repair tasks during overhauls
- Train chief and junior engineers on electrical systems and procedures
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 3-5 years of experience as a marine electrician
- NFPA 70E certification or ability to obtain it
- Valid TWIC Card
- High level of knowledge in PLCs, AC, and DC controls and systems
- Physical ability to transit vessel environments, including climbing and working in confined spaces
- Ability to work in extreme weather and on a rotating on-call schedule
