Electrician II

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment generally under 600V
• Coordinate maintenance, operations, and modifications of electrical infrastructure
• Perform initial diagnostics and respond to data using specialized tools like insulation testers and thermal imaging cameras
• Execute preventive and predictive maintenance procedures to ensure equipment reliability
• Follow recognized procedures and techniques for the electrical trade at a journey level

Requirements

• State of Iowa Class A Journeyman Electrician license with 4 years apprentice experience plus 2 years journeyman experience, OR State of Iowa Class B Journeyman Electrician license with 8 years of experience in the electrical trade
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet the University’s Fleet Safety Program

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with lighting control systems, including troubleshooting and installation
• Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
• Experience with commercial/industrial and three-phase electrical systems
• Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (e.g., Metasys)
• Proficiency using electrical diagnostic tools such as power analyzers or thermal imaging
