About the role
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment generally under 600V
- Coordinate maintenance, operations, and modifications of electrical infrastructure
- Perform initial diagnostics and respond to data using specialized tools like insulation testers and thermal imaging cameras
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance procedures to ensure equipment reliability
- Follow recognized procedures and techniques for the electrical trade at a journey level
Requirements
- State of Iowa Class A Journeyman Electrician license with 4 years apprentice experience plus 2 years journeyman experience, OR State of Iowa Class B Journeyman Electrician license with 8 years of experience in the electrical trade
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet the University’s Fleet Safety Program
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with lighting control systems, including troubleshooting and installation
- Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Experience with commercial/industrial and three-phase electrical systems
- Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (e.g., Metasys)
- Proficiency using electrical diagnostic tools such as power analyzers or thermal imaging
